Natural Resources Regional Plan

Your Land, Your Water, Your Decision

Environment Canterbury addresses the sustainable management of natural resources in its Natural Resources Regional Plan (NRRP).

The Proposed NRRP consists of eight chapters. The first three chapters, including Chapter 3 Air Quality, reached the “Proposed” stage in June 2002. Hearings have been completed and Council's decisions on submissions are expected to be released after mid-late 2007 .

Variation 1, to the Proposed NRRP, notified on 3 July 2004, introduces Chapters 4-8. These chapters deal with land and water issues. Hearings on Variation 1 commenced in September 2006 and will continue to late 2008. Additional variations to Chapters 4 and 5 have been notified since 2004. Submitters who asked to be heard, will be contacted ahead of time about the hearing process.
